Q: What is a foundation?
The foundation is what many mattress factories and mattress stores call a box spring. The New Mattress Store factory does not build an old fashioned box spring like most mattress factories but builds a unique unit that supports the mattress called the foundation. Our factory now builds a newer, more stable semi flex steel frame unit called the foundation. There are no old fashioned coil springs in our foundation and we use full 1" x 4" wood side rails, not the 1" x 3" side rails that many others still use.
Q: What are standard size mattress dimensions?
Twin: 38" x 75" Full: 53" x 75" Queen: 60" x 80" King: 76" x 80" When choosing a mattress there are several considerations. Size of the room, size of the bed, how much room you need when you sleep. If you sleep with a partner you may want a popular queen size or even a king size. The larger, the better as many sleepers move 40 to 50 times per night so you need freedom of movement.

Q: Should I purchase a new foundation with a new mattress?
Correct support of your body while sleeping is important for a healthful nights rest. The orthopedic design our factory uses evens out the pressure points of your body, especially the heaviest parts such as shoulders, hips, and lower back. A new foundation will support and provide a longer life to your mattress while acting as a shock absorber to your mattress. Trying to save money by using an old or worn out box spring or foundation can shorten the life of your mattress and not provide the level of comfort you should expect.
Q: How do I move my mattress or foundation upstairs?
Our king size foundation comes standard in 2 pieces and is a split foundation. Queen size foundations can be ordered split at a small extra charge if you have a tight entry to the bedroom. Our innerspring mattresses are flexible enough to bend around most tight corners. Care should be taken not to permanently bend the border rod around the innerspring mattress as this will misshape the mattress and it will not lie flat. The New Mattress Store factory will provide information on how your mattress can be bent without damage to your mattress.

Q: How do I clean my mattress?
Do not dry clean your mattress. Only vacuuming is recommended. Spot cleaning of small stains may be done with a small amount of cold water and mild soap lightly applied. Do not ever soak a mattress. Mattresses that become stained or in an unsanitary condition will void the manufacturers warranty
Q: What is a two sided mattress?
All bed mattresses crafted by the New Mattress store manufacturer are two sided with the exception of the Memory Foam mattress. This means the two sided bed mattresses can be flipped over periodically to eliminate body impressions and increase the life of your mattress. Body impressions are normal even on the most highly-padded and the most expensive and luxurious mattresses so periodic flipping and / or rotating of your mattress is recommended. Memory foam mattresses are not two sided as they do not require flipping or rotating as your body impressions gently fill in and the mattress reshapes itself.
